About The Speaker
Sergio Oramas is a Music Data Scientist, specialized in Recommender Systems, Natural Language Processing, and Deep Learning with audio and text. He got his PhD in 2017 at the Music Technology Group of the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Sergio is currently working as a Staff Scientist at Pandora/SiriusXM, the leader in audio entertainment in North America.
He was Assistant Professor of Machine Learning at the Pompeu Fabra University and collaborated for 5 year in the organization of Sonar+D. Sergio has nearly 50 publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences and journals, which accumulate more than 1000 citations.
Sergio is also a musician, holding a B.A. in Musicology and a Major in Jazz Composition, and currently leads his solo music project Muyaio. He recently released algoderitmo.com, a web to discover independent artists like himself with a fairer recommendation algorithm.
