Pierre Genet is a French musician, producer, DJ, composer and director. Based in Barcelona, he is an eclectic artist and plays freely at the crossroads of genres and eras, from mandé jazz to amapiano, from hip-hop to deep house. He has recorded and released music as a member of the group Kah, and can currently be seen playing at Macarena Club and Curtis Audiophile. Co-director of the film Kokomih – Echo of the cliff, a musical exploration of the Dogon culture in Mali and its ancestral practice of groove.
As a DJ, my approach to music selection is to open up an ephemeral space for dancing, getting unknown people to dance and discover new music. I mix progressively by Bpm and base the flow of an event on the rhythm, which progresses gently but relentlessly throughout the night. This allows to introduce different genres without breaking the groove spell, see above for examples.
